SAD Line to be broken up...
With the struggle to find offense continuing, word comes this morning that Coach Trotz will be breaking up the Predators top line of Steve Sullivan - Jason Arnott - J.P. Dumont (SAD line) after less than two games together this season...
What the lineup that takes the ice at the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C. tonight though remains a mystery. After canceling their morning skate Thursday and taking Friday as a rest and travel day after back to back games, the Predators were forced to turn around the bus this morning en route from the hotel to the rink due to traffic associated with a bicycle race surrounding the arena.
Together the SAD line has shown the ability to be one of the league's best when they are clicking on all cylinders, however after going through their first training camp together in two seasons (due to Sullivan's back injury) the unit lost Dumont mid-way through the first period on opening night in Dallas when he took a blow to the head on the follow-through of a check. Dumont missed the next 4 games and wasn't scheduled to return to the lineup until this weekend at the earliest before asking back in Thursday night vs. Chicago. In that game the line was held scoreless and didn't appear to have instantly regained their chemistry.
The interesting part of this news that both Arnott and Sullivan have said publicly that they were promised this summer that as long as all three were healthy, that the SAD line would play together. Personally, I have strong objections to that type of promise, but what's done is done and I'm personally excited to see what the lineup will look like tonight with the three of them split up and how they take to their new linemates.
It is without a doubt that the SAD line broken up could spread out the talent level and possibly create two or more scoring units. At this point, I really think there is no doubt it is worth a shot...
Twitter updates from the team also report 3 new power-play units for tonight's game as well. The game should give everyone a reason to tune in tonight...

If this doesn't work tonight, we've gotta go back to it the next game.
All in all, this line has been successful as a whole.

Always a fundamental question for an offensively challenged team...
whether to load up one line or spread the talent out a bit to keep at least one threat out there as much as possible. At this point, you try what you can.
More fun than a stick to the face!
