Nashville Predators captain Jason Arnott injured
Remember when Jason Arnott took a hard fall in the 3rd period Saturday in Washington, and limped off the ice? Perhaps that's when he injured his left arm.
This from Bryan Mullen at The Tennessean:
Nashville Predators captain Jason Arnott has been placed on injured reserve and is expected to miss one to two weeks, Coach Barry Trotz said Monday morning.
The injury occurred in the third period at Washington D.C. on Saturday. Arnott did not practice Monday and was wearing a sling on his left arm. When asked if the injury involved his shoulder or elbow, Arnott said, "a little bit of both."
For a team still struggling to generate offense, this is a huge blow given their upcoming schedule. Arnott is 2nd among forwards on the Preds with 19:24 of ice time per game, including 3:45 on the power play. He leads the team in shots with 31, well ahead of the next player, Patric Hornqvist with 21, and was off to a good start on the faceoff dot with a 54% winning percentage.

Wonderful.

injuries
Maybe the “hockey gods” are getting the inevitable injuries out of the way early in the season ; ) Hopefully the injury won’t be a nagging ongoing situation that will keep him out periodically throughout the season. Get well FAST! The guys need to rally and get their stuff together. On another note – what about the ownership situation? Has anyone been approved to come on board to help fill the financial loss of the Boots fiasco? The team needs an infusion of money – I don’t think most people realize that money is the most probable cause of no big offseason signings – it takes money, even more than i think, to run any big sports team.

And there’s no specific timetable for the resolution of that issue. The current ownership group has made a bid for those shares, but there’s no telling when it will get resolved.
For the record, I’m not a big fan of the not enough money argument.

Boots shares had no finanical impact...
If I’ve understood this correctly, Boots shares were essentially equivalent to a loan and did not require any additional capital outlay once the team was purchased. Boots shared in the profits, but did not bear any responsibility to cover losses.
Therefore, while I think it’d be great for the locally based ownership group to win control of those shares outright in bankruptcy court and then sell them to whomever they seem fit, if they desire to sell those shares, I do not think that it has any effect on our current finances…

Wilson!
Playing on the first line will be a good developmental opportunity and his already evident ability to set up good opportunities would do well on the PP unit.

I could see it on the power play perhaps, but not at even strength; particularly since the Preds are on the road for the next several games, opposing coaches will have the opportunity to pick the line they want out there. I’m not sure if it’s best for Wilson to be thrown up against the other team’s top checkers while the team desperately needs any offense he can provide right now. That’s just asking too much.
I do understand why people are excited about him, though.
