Nashville's 6-5 OT win at Ottawa: Inside the Numbers

I wanted to draw your attention to the numbers from the Even Strength play in last night's crazy 6-5 victory in Ottawa.

After the jump, check out some surprising performances. The dominant names here are Sulzer, Ward, Wilson and Hornqvist, while the laggards were Erat, Legwand and Sullivan (so much, perhaps, for my suggestion of that trio as a line!).

Youth Being Served

The kids are carrying this team. Of the veterans, only Weber and Suter have played consistently well. Arnott has had a couple of games. Legwand has been good defensively overall. Dumont might be rounding back into shape after the concussion.

Word

And one of the few vets who has reallly impressed… drum roll… Dave Scatchard?! Didn’t see that coming. The sad thing is he’ll be sent back to Milwaukee once Tootoo and/or Arnott are healthy. I think they should at least consider keeping him around.

Agreed

Scatchard’s done a nice job, I’d like to see him stick for a while.

More fun than a stick to the face!

Youth

It is great to see the young guys step up and lead this team. My big concern is what is wrong with the goalies this season.

I really, really think we should pick a starting goalie. This is the standard approach. “Playing the hot hand” hardly ever works long term, maybe Roloson and Fernandez did it a few years ago in Minnesota, but besides that…
