From the Nashville Predators:
Nashville Predators President of Hockey Operations/General Manager David Poile announced today that the club has recalled forward Peter Olvecky (PEE-tuhr ohl-VEHT-skee) from Milwaukee (AHL).
Olvecky, 24 (10/11/85), has posted seven points (2g-5a) in nine games with the Admirals in 2009-10. A native of Trencin, Slovakia, the 6-2, 195-pound left wing split last season between the Minnesota Wild and the Houston Aeros, posting seven points (2g-5a) in 31 NHL games and 23 points (6g-17a) in 41 AHL contests. Drafted 78th overall (third round) by Minnesota in the 2004 Entry Draft, Olvecky represented Slovakia in the 2009 World Championships in April and May, notching an assist in five games.
Trotz decided not to call up Ryan Jones because the Preds want to see him build up some confidence, John Glennon notes. He also notes that Pekka Rinne will get his first career start against Dallas tonight.
UPDATE: Andreas Thuresson is also called up, @Short_Shifts is reporting.
