Nashville's name should be on downtown arena
One of The Tennessean's most popular columnists, Gail Kerr, chimes in on the arena naming controversy. Personally, I think Nissan would be the ideal sponsor given their stature as a global company with US headquarters in nearby Franklin. So what would that lead to - Nissan Place?
I certainly disagree with the notion that it should permanently stay as "Nashville Arena". The naming rights fees (around $4 million annually) represent a crucial revenue stream for the Predators.
Then again, maybe David Freeman can negotiate something to resolve his tax lein - it could be called "IRS Headquarters", which would scare visiting opponents silly.

New Name
I like the idea of the Nashville Arena since the Predators have mostly been supported by the Hockey fans and not necessarily businesses. However, a good naming rights agreement brings important money so here are some suggestions: Liquid Ice Arena, First Tennessee Center, Jack Daniels Center, Dell Arena or The Dell Center, Nissan Arena or The Nissan Center are a few ideas.
