Rinne 5th biggest steal of decade, according to SI
Sports Illustrated's Allan Muir has included Pekka Rinne in on his biggest draft steals of the decade, saying this about the Nashville Predators netminder (follow the link for more):
It's not a surprise that Rinne was plucked so late, but that his name was called at all. Bypassed in each of his first three years of eligibility, he had settled into a career as a seldom-used understudy in the Finnish SM-Liiga when his break finally came...
After the jump, Steve Sullivan is Puck Daddy and NHL.com's 3rd and 2nd star of the night, respectively...
NHL.com named Sullivan 2nd star of the night, with video of his performance, while Ross McKeon gives Sully 3rd star, behind Nathan Horton and Johan Hedberg:
The diminutive forward continued his career-long mastery of the Blue Jackets by scoring three goals for his seventh career hat trick as the Predators won on the road. Sullivan has 16 goals and 27 assists for 43 points in 39 career games against Columbus, more points than he has scored against any opponent during a nearly 800 career games.

Good goalies often are considered steals because they mature so late that teams typically draft them low (as opposed to high-skill skaters, for example). All the same, it’s nice to see the Preds get some run…
More fun than a stick to the face!

Thanks for the tip, Dirk, but like you say, I’m just jumping on any national coverage a Pred gets at this point.

It may be a bit early to say he was a huge steal. JSG, Brian Boucher, and other such could fall under this category as well.
But yeah, I’ll take the pub as well.
