Power Rankings Roundup, 12.15.09
Checking in for edition two of the power rankings roundup, where the Nashville Predators average out at 13th place, and the general consensus for best team is the New Jersey Devils.
We start with a nice word from Allan Muir at Sports Illustrated, where the Preds come in at 12th, unchanged:
More off-ice drama in Nashville? Don't buy it. Despite another alarmist headline in the local paper suggesting the Preds could move, it's not going to happen. The only bad news is that they wasted an impressive comeback against Detroit, losing 3-2 in OT. Still, they took five of six points on the week with wins over the Canucks and Blue Jackets. No surprise, that last one. The Preds have 13 consecutive home wins over Columbus. Last week: 2-0-1
Scott Burnside at ESPN has us at 12th (down from 10th), also:
The Predators let one get away from them at home against Detroit on Saturday as Todd Bertuzzi scored early in overtime. Still, Nashville has collected points in four of six and remains firmly ensconced in the West playoff mix.
Wes Goldstein of CBS Sports places Nashville all the way at 17th:
Nashville gets good production from the back end but still has scored fewer goals than it has allowed.
TSN.ca puts the Predators in 14th:
RW Martin Erat has six goals in the last five games; this after scoring five in the previous 34 games, going back to last season. The Hockey News' Ryan Dixon lists Nashville at number 12:
Nashville has the 26th-ranked power play in the league and the club, always in need of an extra goal, is 13-1-1 when it gets a man-advantage marker

OK, not sure where to get those, though.
Not sure it matters in Power Rankings, but in the league wide standings we sit 10th. Not bad.

This week, the Preds took a slight dip in the Western Conference rankings.
