Second week of March power rankings/ Weekly wallpapers
Along with the weekly review of the power rankings I'm going to do, at the end of the posts I'm going to put "weekly wallpapers."
Here we go, this is how the ranks look after a week:
ESPN.com
#18
We're at 18 in ESPN's rankings, up 3 from 21.
"Nashville heads into a pivotal week, starting out eighth in the West entering Monday's action."
FOXSPORTS.com
#19
Fox Sports kept us at 19 this week.
"Before the Flyers handed them a loss on Saturday, the Preds had run off six straight wins - including two in Week 22. Steve Sullivan led the way in those wins, netting three goals and one assist for Nashville."
TSN.ca
#14
Up one spot from last week, we're at the 14th spot in TSN's rankings.
"A low-key approach means that the Predators didn't go out to get additional scoring help, but that need has been mitigated by the return to form of Steve Sullivan, who now has 14 points in his last 13 games."
Sportsnet.ca
#17
Sportsnet puts us at 17, up just one from last week's 18
" If the Predators played the Blue Jackets at home every game, they'd be undefeated. They have won 10 straight at home against the Jackets."
CBSSPORTS.COM
#15
CBS puts us at the 15th spot up seven from last week's 22 saying:
"The Preds know how to shut things down. Nashville is a league-best 15-0-1 when leading after one period."
Adding to that is a special feature on the Preds:
Seems like the only time anyone notices the Nashville Predators is when questions about their future in the country music capital come up.
It goes with the territory for a franchise that has had serious ownership and attendance issues over the last few seasons and has been forced to watch several high-end talents leave for greener pastures as a result. But these days, the bigger story surrounding the Predators is about what this team is doing on the ice.
Nashville's season looked all but over as recently as the All-Star break when the team sat 14th in the Western Conference and at the bottom of the scoring chart. Since then, the Predators have quietly climbed back into the playoff picture by putting together a 12-5-1 run that included a six-game winning streak in which they outscored opponents 28-11. The streak ended Saturday in Philadelphia, but Nashville is still in a tie for the eighth and final postseason spot in the West.
An improved offense led by captain Jason Arnott and David Legwand has helped trigger the resurgence in Nashville, but the real key to this hard-working team's success of late has been the play of goalie Pekka Rinne. Rinne is making himself a strong rookie-of-the-year candidate and will likely get some Vezina consideration as well if the Preds do get to the postseason, although at this point, no one in Nashville is taking that for granted. "You've got to be desperate because things can turn on a dime," Preds coach Barry Trotz told the Tennessean. "You saw that for a while when we were winning and not gaining any ground. Then a couple teams faltered and we moved up.
"But if we lose, they'll pass us. So it will be desperation until the end."
The Hockey News
#9
We break into The Hockey News's top 10, and we're up four to #9
"Goalie Pekka Rinne is quietly having one heck of a rookie year"
Sporting News

We're slowly climbing the ladder in Craig Cunstance's ranks, up to 18 from 22
"Goalie Pekka Rinne is quietly having one heck of a rookie year"

Definitely
Great idea. I’ll definitely follow these postings if you continue to post these power rankings.
I second the notion...
Promoted to the front page.
More fun than a stick to the face!
On the Forecheck is SB Nation's blog covering the Nashville Predators.
What about USA todays Sagarin rating?
I’d suggest a few of the blogger ratings but it would get real busy then (although Puck Prospectus).
You could also run PyPuck each week…
and…and…
I can't seem to find an updated Sagarin ranking.
Do you have a link so that I can add it to the post?
Welcome to Smashville, Tennessee.

Good stuff again
I think we should be ranked around 15.
And, of course, as my nickname suggests, I like those wallpapers!
