Nashville re-signs its most important free agent

The Tennessean brings us good news on the Predators front:

Predators general manager David Poile said Friday he’s agreed to a new one-year contract through June of 2010.

Last summer Poile decided to sign year-to-year contracts as a safeguard against unforeseen circumstances like ownership change. His current contract would have expired this June.

Whew. At least that takes care of one lingering worry. Now to re-sign Sullivan, and maybe even get Radulov back into the fold.

I agree ...

… Re-upping Poile is as big as re-signing any players. Look what he did to build the team up just before Leopold left us in the lurch and the mass exodus occurred. I think he’s close to getting us back to that stage, and he doesn’t want to leave any unfinished business.
