The Staals draw the calls... Penalty Plus/Minus in the playoffs
Thanks to a prompt by Greg from The Puck Stops Here, I've calculated the Penalty Plus/Minus rankings for the playoffs so far, and the Staal brothers who are still playing (Eric in Carolina, Jordan in Pittsburgh) are leading the way with +6 figures each.
Feel free to comb through the Google Spreadsheet below to see how your favorite team and/or player is doing. What are some of the things that jump out at me? Ryan Getzlaf being tied for the worst value (-7) is partially a reflection of playing lots of ice time in two extended series, but all the same, a center who is relied upon for offensive performance shouldn't spend that much time sitting in the box.

it would be interesting to bounce this off of TOI and even toughness of match ups.
(if that is even possible)

I keep meaning to do the TOI part (once I finally put all this stuff into a relational database), as to toughness, I’m not sure what you’d use since we’re talking about the propensity to take/draw penalties.
More fun than a stick to the face!
On the Forecheck is SB Nation's blog covering the Nashville Predators.

Where are the "drawn" calls from?
NHL.com doesn’t seem to post the drawn penalty calls on their website. Can I ask where you found these?
