Colorado Avalanche fire Tony Granato
After weeks of speculation (and a rather public flirt with Patrick Roy as a potential coach/GM), the Colorado Avalanche have fired coach Tony Granato and his staff. Granato, who led the Avs downhill to the worst record in the Western Conference (32-45-5), earning a "D" from Mile High Hockey. He was left twisting in the wind once GM Francois Giguere was fired by team president Pierre Lacroix.
The Avs appear to be a franchise in a tailspin right now, plain and simple.
UPDATE - here's the new lineup at the top of the organization:
New front office for Colorado - Adrian Dater: All Things Avs Colorado
"From a source: Greg Sherman, previously the assistant GM, will be the new Avalanche GM. Craig Billington will be the assistant GM."

“tailspin” is good, but we prefer a different word. It rhymes with Clutterbuck
Hyphens cause writers more trouble than any other form of punctuation, except perhaps commas.
