Nashville anoints its new Chief Marketeer, Derek Perez
As first told here almost two weeks ago, the Nashville Predators have hired a new executive with the addition of Derek Perez to the front office. As Chief Marketing Officer, he takes over for former VP of Marketing Randy Campbell. In a related development, Gerry Helper's title has changed to "Senior Vice President/Special Assistant to the President", a role in which, according to John Glennon, "he will serve as a liaison between the Predators and the city."
Given the controversy that continues to get stirred up in the middle of that relationship, it's not surprising that the team has to dedicate a senior staffer specifically work on those issues.

Hopefully better than "It Stays With You"
I’m hoping we’ll get a better marketing campaign than “It Stays With You.” I was never a huge fan of it.
Gerry Helper has also taken on an increased role with USA Hockey as he was mentioned as one of the key “go to” people at the presser in Chicago this morning. He and Poile will be distracted at times between now and the Olympics.

Gerry Helper can help
the Predators and their loyal fans if he can persuade the Tennessean to change its default attitude.
