Google Calendar now features sports schedules, including NHL

Thanks to a pointer from Mashable, comes news that Google has now integrated sports schedules into their Google Calendar application. It includes schedules for leagues across six sports (baseball, basketball, football, hockey, rugby, and soccer). For hockey, the NHL, AHL, and ECHL are available.

It looks like the information is pretty fresh, as when I checked the December 19 game between Nashville and Calgary, which just had a time change announced yesterday, Google Calendar did indeed show the latest information. If they really keep this up to date, it makes for a nice addition to the application.

UPDATE: A couple notes for improvement from @phragmunkee on Twitter - they should really make the length of each game 2.5 or 3 hours rather than just 1, and they should include the TV coverage information. But who knows, perhaps that can be fixed?

UPDATE #2: It looks like the durations are now set for 3 hours.

None of the AHL teams have schedules (at least not yet).

Really cool feature though, saves bloggers and team staff members from having to type it all up for fans to download!
