Nashville Predators assign Cal O'Reilly to Milwaukee

From the Nashville Predators:

Nashville Predators President of Hockey Operations/General Manager David Poile announced today that the club has reassigned center Cal O'Reilly to Milwaukee (AHL). O'Reilly was recalled on Jan. 8 under emergency conditions for forward Jason Arnott, so must be sent back to the Admirals as soon as Arnott is ready to return to the lineup.

O'Reilly, 23 (9/30/86), posted three assists in four games during his most recent stint in the NHL, including his first career multi-point/assist performance on Tuesday at Edmonton. He played 15-plus minutes in three of the four games after doing so only twice in nine previous games in 2009-10. The Toronto, Ont., native has four assists in 13 games for Nashville this season. O'Reilly is scheduled to appear in his second consecutive 2010 AHL All-Star Classic on Monday and Tuesday in Portland, Maine after amassing 26 assists and 35 points in 31 games for Milwaukee this season.

This isn't entirely unexpected, and confirms that Jason Arnott will play against Toronto on Monday. Cal did a good job during this latest NHL stint, which bodes well for his future. Recall that his contract turns into a one-way deal next season, and at the rate he's going, he'll be ready for regular NHL duty relatively soon.

Cal will get to play in the All Star game. Good on him for making that even in limited action for the Ads.

Too bad he won’t get the chance to play against his brother in Colorado next week, though.

More fun than a stick to the face!
