Defensive Pairs I'd Rather See Than Hamhuis/Klein

I have no issue with the Klein extension. The following, however, are defensive pairs I'd rather see on the ice than Hamhuis and Klein together...

  1. Klein/Bouillon
  2. Hamhuis/Franson
  3. Hamhuis/Bouillon
  4. Klein/Franson
  5. Sulzer/Hamhuis
  6. Ryan Ellis/Blum
  7. Dan Ellis/Blum
  8. Hamhuis/Ellis
  9. Bert/Ernie
  10. Batman/Robin
  11. Simon/Garfunkel
  12. Vince Young/Chris Johnson
  13. Suter by himself
  14. Weber by himself
  15. Jekyll/Hyde
  16. Big Boi/Andre 3000
  17. Eric B/Rakim
  18. Big/Rich
  19. Sony/Cher
  20. Bouillon/Bouillon cube

I agree

One of the worst pairings in hockey. Do you guys remember how they were broken up in November and our team was dominating? After that lousy October Trotz split them up and they were paired with Bouillon and Franson and the whole team greatly improved. That was when Pekka got hot, cause he wasn’t having to fight off terrible turnovers and blown coverages everyday.

One idea I’d like to see tried again is breaking up Weber & Suter. Right now, Suter plays a somewhat subordinate role to #6, and it might make sense to go with something like Weber/Hamhuis and Suter/Klein, which allows for #2 and #8 to play more of the backup role and allow the other to be more active offensively.

As needed, of course, Weber and Suter can always be reunited if you need a goal late to tie the game, etc.

More fun than a stick to the face!

I would not want Hammer and Klein being the D men staying back while Weber and Suter pinch. Klein pinches too much as it is and that’s why he is always late getting back. Those two with Weber and Suter would hinder their offensive production, because they would have to cover for their mistakes. I’d rather see Hammer/Beef Cube and Franson/Klein.
