There were scouts on hand from Dallas, Washington, Pittsburgh, Vancouver, Los Angeles and the New York Rangers. I have to figure that the majority were there looking at Thrashers forward Ilya Kovalchuk, who will apparently get traded before the deadline on March 3.

Frolov for Hamhuis
Straight up. Rental for Rental.
LA needs a D, we need a F. Both teams deal from a position of strength to fill a need and it also gives LA a little extra cap room in the process…
Thoughts?

Trading away Hamhuis leaves a hole on D
I just can’t see pressing another rookie like Sulzer into regular service for a playoff run.
More fun than a stick to the face!

Agreed
I would rather trade draft picks. I know it’s not always a good idea, but I think we’ve got enough young talent to last us a while. Plus, all we really need is that final round pick so we can get our next Hornqvist :)

Poile would acquire a veteran D in another deal
I anticipate Hamhuis being moved. He has too much value as a rental to either get us a piece we need (a forward) or replace the assets we’re going to spend filling a hole.
Veteran defensemen are traded every season at the deadline and this year will be no different. Use a pick there to get your replacement and keep Sulzer as the 7th D.
Overall, you make a major upgrade at forward and either slightly downgrade or come out even on defense…

center or winger?
should the team still be looking for a winger or a center? i’ve heard we needed both at different times of the season.
I've always been in the winger camp,
but looking at the roster now I might go for a center. If only we had a talented young 215 pound goal-scoring prospect who could play both positions… cough-Wilson-cough…
"Get to the Choppa!"
Wilson could easily be a deadline addition...
If he continues his development in Milwaukee, I don’t see any reason to keep him there once the rosters expand. Heck, even now…we have what? One extra forward???

massive trades
In Toronto, Calgary, and Anaheim today. Whoa.
