Nashville Predators assign Nick Spaling to Milwaukee
From the Nashville Predators:
Nashville Predators President of Hockey Operations/General Manager David Poile announced today that the club has reassigned forward Nick Spaling to Milwaukee (AHL).
Spaling, 21 (9/19/88), was recalled for the first time in his career on Dec. 15, and has appeared in the Predators last 21 games, posting three assists - including one last night in a 4-3 victory over Atlanta - while averaging 10:42 of ice time. Nashville's third choice, 58thoverall (second round) in the 2007 Entry Draft is also averaging 1:40 of shorthanded ice time in his inaugural NHL campaign, fifth-best among rookie forwards. The Palmerston, Ont., native has seven points (1g-6a) in 27 games for the Admirals in 2009-10.
I would assume this means we'll see Marcel Goc in the lineup Tuesday vs. Phoenix. Spaling has been very impressive, however, in the role he's been given.

Why Spaling?
O’Reilly was brought up under emergency conditions and after his drop pass in the crease last night…I think he deserves another trip to Milwaukee.
If Goc returns and pushes Cal down to the fourth line it will make Cal completely useless. I just don’t like this move. Spaling has been one of our best PK’ers since his recall as well. This honestly just isn’t sitting well with me at the moment in case you can’t tell…

I can definitely see that point
O’Reilly’s pass that you refer to was a real facepalm moment… just too dang fancy for his own good there.
More fun than a stick to the face!

I'm just excited to get Goc back
O’Reilly might not set the world on fire down on the 4th line, but he at least gives it the potential to score, something it hasn’t had all season.
"Get to the Choppa!"
If Belak returns and we have 13 healthy forwards...
Wouldn’t that constitute the end of the emergency conditions under which O’Reilly was recalled and start the clock ticking again on his waiver eligibility? Could Cal be up for good right now? Might he be being showcased for a trade?

man
Nick was one of my favorite players, I thought he was doing a superlative job…this really sucks, I think he’s been better than O’Reilly and should play instead of Belak for sure.
