Dion Phaneuf traded from Calgary to Toronto
The Flames and Maple Leafs pull the trigger on a blockbuster 7-player deal. In the short term, this provides Calgary with some much-needed scoring help up front, and Ian White can contribute from the blueline, but many of the pieces here are in their final contract year.
This is a huge deal for the Flames, as they send away one of their core players who's under contract under 2013-2014. Does this represent them hitting the panic button in order to salvage this season, or the first step towards a fundamental rebuild of the team?

Maybe they're getting ready for Kovalchuk?

Dang
I was hoping we would make a move to acquire Ponikarovsky. That seems much less likely now, since the Leafs just lost 4 other forwards.
"Get to the Choppa!"
I doubt that Calgary and Toronto are done
TOR needs forwards and Calgary may want another or like Aditya said are stocking to make a run at Kovy.
Either way, big, big deals today. Leafs finally dumped Toskala and Jason Blake for JS Giguere.
