Joel Ward has become one of the most important two-way forwards on the Nashville Predators, but will miss tonight's game against Carolina with a wrist injury.

John Glennon reports that Joel Ward will miss tonight's game with Carolina (be sure to check out the Game Day Preview), due to a wrist injury that shouldn't keep him out for anything more than one game. This is why Ben Guite was recalled last night, just in case Ward couldn't go.

This leaves David Legwand without both of his regular wingers on the shutdown line, although the Preds are catching a bit of a break since star center Eric Staal won't play tonight for the Hurricanes. Glennon's blog also says that Jerred Smithson is skating, but still a ways from returning to action, and Pekka Rinne will be debuting some new equipment tonight in goal.

Tip o' the hat to smashville for posting a FanShot on this.

I figured

Guite would get a second look at some point. I remember there was a lot of talk about him in preseason as having that “Pred style of play.” I hope he’s up to the task tonight. Wardo has some hard checking shoes to fill.

Poor Admirals

We’ve stolen Santorelli, Spaling, Thuresson, Franson, Sulzer, and now Guite. Goes to show we have a great minor league squad, though.
