The Nashville Predators are doing quite a bit of roster shuffling ahead of tonight's game against Calgary, based on the updates we're seeing on Twitter from the ink-stained wretches.
Follow after the jump for a look at each move, along with the impact on the team...
Jarome Iginla and the Calgary Flames come to Smashville tonight, while Sidney Crosby & the Pittsburgh Penguins play here Thursday. Use this special offer for OtF readers to save money on Nashville Predators tickets for these, or any other home games this season.
"Erat is officially off IR" - Josh Cooper, The Tennessean
Martin Erat practiced well yesterday, and appears to be set to line up alongside Colin Wilson and J.P. Dumont tonight. He'll have to hit the ground running skating, as the Preds play four games between tonight and Sunday, and will need immediate production.
"Lombardi is officially on IR" - Josh Cooper
Matthew Lombardi's status has been a confusing one for Predators fans for the last several days,
"Nashville puts Jaime Lundmark on waivers" - Kevin Allen, USA Today
Jamie Lundmark saw limited action during preseason before a groin pull kept him out for the last several weeks. He recently began practicing with the Preds again, but at this point is a ways behind players who have been playing competitive hockey for almost a month. He was signed to a two-way contract over the summer, so it's not at all surprising to see him head up to Milwaukee while he gets up to game speed. Right now, Nick Spaling is probably a better fit for what the Predators need in the lineup, but I would not be surprised at all to see Lundmark back here again later on.
Considering his lack of recent playing time, I can't imagine another NHL team is going to put in a claim on Lundmark. That's not a knock on him as a player, just the realities of the marketplace.
