Predators top Dallas 1-0, Pekka Rinne earns 1st shutout
The Nashville Predators continued their hot start by pushing their record to 4-0-3 after escaping Dallas with a 1-0, thanks to the lone goal by Cal O'Reilly and Pekka Rinne's first shutout of the season, as he stopped 30 shooting Stars.
We've got the advanced stats for you along with the video highlights...
Just follow after the jump!
A few quick notes before the stats:
- J.P. Dumont left the game in the 3rd period with the dreaded "undisclosed injury".
- Teemu Laakso saw his first action of the season, as Sergei Kostitsyn was a bit of a surprise scratch. He played just 2:43, though.
- For those wondering about a possible callup to fill in for Dumont, I'd just like to see Linus Klasen survive a couple months of North American hockey before they even think about it. The Preds can dress Kostitsyn or Belak tomorrow at Tampa Bay.
- Take a look at the stats below and give it up for Mr. Cody Franson. I don't care if he played against lesser opposition or not, that's a stellar night.
- For a thorough game report, head over to Predlines, as Amanda attended tonight in Dallas!

Maybe someone already said this in the pre-game write-up, or game thread...
…but Dallas had scored three to five goals in each of their previous games thus far this season…
JP
may have been another victim of a sheabomb
Laakso
From the stats I saw online during the game and noticed Laakso at 2:43 early in the 2nd….I guess its normal to just roll the 6 d, but weird that he didnt get one single shift in the 2nd half of the game.
And you can have Geoffrion…..he hasn’t impressed in any of the 3 Admirals games in Milwaukee. Even when put on the top line with Klasen and Thuresson….he really didn’t impress me.
That is one empty crowd.

I thought the same thing.
Thought that looked odd for a Stars game. I thought they usually had great turnouts. That looked like a Thrashers game…
The tornadoes that hit Nashville last night were in Texas at the time of this game… that is one reason why. The second reason is because it is the same as here — a lot of home football games going on at the exact same time.

If there were 13,583 fans at that game
then quite a few of them must have come disguised as empty seats, as fans sometimes do at the Joe. However, let’s thank both attendees who wrote up what they saw, Amanda and the AP reporter. American Airlines Center must be as foreign to the Tennessean writers as Bridgestone Arena apparently is.
