OtF Play of the Week (Week 3)
We got 4 out of a possible 6 points last week. That ain't bad. After the team underachieved their way to an OT loss Tuesday night, and then lost another OT thriller Thursday night, Preds fans (or at least me) were left feeling disappointed about 2 games that could have easily been won. Our big Fin came to the rescue Saturday night in Dallas to get a big road win. We're still undefeated in regulation, though, and they look like they have improved in all phases. This is gearing up to be a special season, Preds fans. Go Predators!
Videos after the jump...
A. Hit: Jerred Smithson (9:48, 1st) 10/19/2010
Nothing really spectacular came out of this game, but all of our games with the Flames always seem to be really physical, as is this hit by Smithson. Not only was it a good hit, but it also created a chance for J.P. Dumont.
B. Save: Pekka Rinne (2:19, 2nd) 10/19/2010
Again, nothing spectacular in this game, even though Pekka had a shutout until the OT goal. Rinne took away a good chance here.
C. Goal: David Legwand (2) - Jordin Tootoo(2), Joel Ward(2) (00:53, 1st) 10/21/10
Wardo did the dirty work down along the boards, got the puck to Tootoo, who fired a perfect pass to our offensive machine in David Legwand for the opening score. Tootoo's addition to this line seems to have put a little fire under Ward and Legwand. You know that there will never be a lack of effort from these 3.
D. Goal: Cody Franson(1)- Francis Bouillon(1), Martin Erat(1) (8:03, 2nd) 10/21/2010
Just how they drew it up in the playbook! Erat made a nice pass out to Cube, and the rest was just taking advantage of how the puck bounced. Hey, anytime we score on the PP it's probably going to be on here!
E. Goal: Patric Hornqvist(3)- Colin Wilson(3), Martin Erat(2) (5:08, 3rd) 10/21/2010
What a beautiful pass and shot. Just perfect. That's all.
F. Goal: Cal O'Reilly(1)- Shea Weber(4), Steve Sullivan(2) (0:42, 1st) 10/23/2010
How about O-O-O-O'Reilly's play so far? He's deflating much of the concern that we fans had about him at the beginning of the season. All that said, this play was all made by that wicked shot of our captain. When he hits the post, he makes it sing like nobody else.
G. Save: Pekka Rinne (10:13, 2nd) 10/23/2010
And now the star of Saturday night. Rinne did have some luck, but it was mostly Rinne being Rinne. The awareness he had to fling out his arm to knock the puck away was amazing.
H. Save: Pekka Rinne (11:11, 2nd) 10/23/2010
And this save is just as unbelievable as the last. This is one of those saves that most goaltenders wouldn't be able to make because they just aren't as big as Peks (or our other giant, for that matter).

Where's Franson's goal from last night?
The move he made to open up the right side of the net was awesome.
The week runs from Sunday - Saturday
That one should show up next week…
