Around SBN: Trent Richardson Interviews Fellow Brown Brandon Weeden

Our man in Milwaukee, Ryan Miller, opened this discussion over at Ads Roundtable. I wasn't able to participate due to holiday travel, but for my $0.02, I think it's telling that with all the injuries up the middle, we haven't seen at least a temporary battlefield promotion for Wilson to center guys like Dumont and/or Erat. If the Preds want him to contribute offensively, send him down for a bit to get him going. If they want to focus on his long-term development instead, he'd get more playing time down there, anyway. What do you think should be done with Willy?

if he is not doing the job and cannot get enuf playing time then send him for a stint but does he have to go thru waivers? what will this do to his mental state? i think that at this point he should be given the playing time in Nashville for a game and see what he can do with it and maybe he wont need the trip

No, he would not have to clear waivers

It looks like Wilson needs to find his game and a stint with the Admirals could do him a world of good. Something isn’t working and we’ve got NHL ready players in MIlwaukee that can step in a defensive and penalty kill specialists. If we can ice a defensive and a shutdown line then maybe we can free up O’Reilly’s and Goc’s lines to start producing again.

Well said.

Did we really waste a #1 draft pick to make this guy a grinder? It sure seems so. If he’s going to continue in that role let him stay; not much difference in that role between the AHL and the NHL. But if you want him to center a scoring line send him down until he shows he can do exactly that.
