WNSR's new noon-3:00 sports radio lineup talks Preds with Terry Crisp
The sports radio landscape here in Nashville went through another change recently with a new lineup taking over the Afternoon Pressbox on WNSR (560-AM), which now features Darren McFarland and Brad Hopkins from noon-3:00 p.m. weekdays. Predators fans will recall that previously, Darren used to host the weekly hockey hour with Terry Crisp on 104.5.
Today, Crispy joined Darren and Brad to talk about how the Preds are reacting to the recent injury adversity they've faced, and how they hope to stop this 5-game losing streak. You can listen via the following link:

Also, be sure to catch the Thom Abraham Show as Barry Trotz will join around 5:05 to provide further updates as the Preds prepare to battle the Blues on Thursday.

Disagree
I’m going to have to disagree with Terry when he says the PP should have 4 guys trying to feed Weber to fire off as many shots as he can for 2 minutes…
Agree wholeheartedly … The tactic of “let Weber slap shot it in” works some of the time, but let’s face it, we also need to have a few bodies screening the goalie ready to put the rebounds. Why not take a look at the Wild’s PP unit in action and take some tactice from them – I think they have the best PP unit in the NHL.
Exactly
How can Terry say that with a straight face? That has been our strategy for the last 100 games and it has resulted in one of the worst PP’s in the league over that time period.
Our PP...
We’re running 3 looks this season, a 1-3-1, an overload, and an umbrella. Out of each set there are 4 options for the puck carrier at every phase.
Trotz walks these guys through the options seemingly every other practice (as he did today) and actually runs live PP’s vs. a PK on the other days (as I expect he’ll do tomorrow).
PP1 today was 33-16-27-26-6 and PP2 was 74-11-71-4-51.
It’s just a matter of the players getting comfortable with the options so that they can read where the opening is and act accordingly without thinking. It simply takes time and practice to perfect and with the seemingly ever changing lineup due to injuries they have struggled to get any consistency, much less chemistry between the guys…

What do you expect?
There isn’t much journalistic priniciples in this town whether it’s the Titans or the Predators. Much less for the Predators because the only people that are interviewed are the ones that work for the Predators. Terry says on one hand that a goalie can see the point shot with no traffic and then again he says that we need the point shot. The point shot is highly overated. Terry if he knew that the PP was bad wouldn’t say it’s bad he would just say what Trotz implies him to say and not to rock the boat. They only state the obvious. From the playoffs when the game 5 tragedy happened all I heard from the core people was that “Tomorrow is another day” but it wasn’t. Everyone knew that game turned the series. So if you expect Poile or Trotz or Pete or Terry to give anaylst then your not going to get any. The rest of the media doesn’t know enough about the game give any insightful information let alone call them out for failed situations or failed expectations.
Keep in mind when you’re talking about Crispy that the guy has won 2 Stanley Cups as a player and 1 as a coach. And thats three more than the Preds can boast.

Keep in mind that he also couldn’t bring Tampa at least repectable. That doesn’t make a bad coach. It doesn’t . Not all Cup winning coaches are good anaylst. Don’t get wrong I like Terry but he won’t or they won’t let him give the nuts and bolts description Terry won’t call anyone out in public because he’s trying to keep a job. Any coach who has won a cup is more than the Preds have. That’s kinda weak
Is That Even Fair?
Tampa was an expansion franchise. You can’t be respectable if you don’t have the tools to work with. When he had the tools (Calgary) he won the Stanley Cup. I also disagree that you’ll get nothing but the company line from Terry. He’s the one guy who’ll say what’s on his mind. There is a certain demeanor that he’s required to project for public consumption, but he’s not afraid to call out the players and coaches. I’ve heard him do so many times before.
Explain Fair
The comment was that Terry has 3 cups including 2 as a player and 1 as a coach. I thought that compared to the Preds who have none was unfair and that was more the point. You said Terry calls out the players and coaches. I’ve never heard him call out the coaches. Don’t get me wrong I like Terry but I tire of the duo and the constant yuking instead of calling the game. I think as a fanbase we have evolved into more into the strategy and the nuts and bolts of the games. I listen and watch around the NHL and some are good and some are bad. The good see things coming and tells things that we don’t see. If you don’t expect better reporting you won’t get it . We are so starved for attention that we don’t care what they say or how they say it.
