Is the Preds' best weapon against Detroit playing in Grand Rapids tonight?
The secret ingredient to winning is in Grand Rapids today. :)
A little birdy told me that if the Preds wanted an offensive boost for tonight's game in Detroit, Jamie Lundmark has had a lot of success against them lately. In 3 games over the last two seasons against the Red Wings, he's tallied 4 goals and 3 assists. You can view his team-by-team splits for the 2008-9 and 2009-10 seasons over at Hockey-Reference.com.
As the Predators skate with the Red Wings tonight in Detroit, the Milwaukee Admirals will tangle with the Red Wings' AHL affiliate, the Grand Rapids Griffins. Lundmark has 4 goals and 7 assists in 21 games for the Ads, after returning from groin trouble that kept him out during the opening weeks of the season.

Six of Joel Ward’s 32 career goals have come against the Wings. JP Dumont has 30 points against them in 39 games played. More than one way to skin this cat, I think.
That is about the only team JP has showed up for here lately! I expected more from him this season.

My campaign is over for now...
With Legwand returning tonight. Lundmark has gotten hot though in Milwaukee recently. I’d like to think I played a role in motivating him ;-)

Haha, LMAO...I had to look at the name too!
We don’t need another 4th line center up…Legwand just came back!

Lundmark was centering Iginla in Calgary two years ago...
He’s not a top offensive player, but he is capable of playing up and down the lineup. He is much more skilled than a fourth line guy. As a matter of fact, I thought he had earned a spot in camp prior to his injury and even afterwards he practiced with the team for a week prior to being sent down and I thought he again had won a spot.
He’s like Fiddler, he has a complimentary skill set. He isn’t going to do it on his own, but he works hard, plays well at both ends of the rink, and is our best option right now to replace Legwand.
Lundmark has 5 points (1 goal, 4 assists) in his last 5 games for Milwaukee.
And with Legwand leaving the game again, I’m back on the recall Lundmark express!

We got about 50 of them guys...expendable IMO!

We do???
Where? I’d love to see your depth chart…
Spaling has showed ZERO offensive skill during his NHL recalls and has been playing with two of our top scorers from last season.
Smithson has ZERO offensive skill too.
Steve Begin IS a fourth line agitating center with little offensive skill.
Geoffrion has been battling injuries for most of the year and has just a single goal this season in Milwaukee.
Lombardi is out indefinitely due to injury.
Who else do we have? Oh, yeah! Jamie Lundmark! Lundmark is the only candidate outside of our current roster to fit the role of two-way offensively skilled center.

Adding ZERO to a number adds up to that number, and that's what adding Lundmark would do.
Spaling has showed ZERO offensive skill during his NHL recalls and has been playing with two of our top scorers from last season: Sounds like Santorelli and Jones and Peverley!
Smithson has ZERO offensive skill too: Just like Peverley, Jones and Santorelli.
We’re winning right now, which is good. Mostly cause guys like Kostitsyn and Wilson have been given an opportunity to play lately, while scrubs like HornQ have been benched (half-sarcasm).
Sully (begrudgingly)-O’Reilly-Wilson
Kostitsyn-Goc-Erat
Tootoo-Smithson-Ward
Dumont-Spaling-HornQ
What do we need a Lundmark for? I’m just asking, dont’ get so defensive Seth…I’m just saying we don’t need a 20 pt guy to come up.

Having both Smithson and Spaling at center pretty much means you have two lines which aren’t going to generate any offensive pressure. I’d much rather have Smithson on the wing, Spaling centering a checking line, and see what Lundmark could do.

And which winger would you scratch?

I could see Tootoo, Smithson & Spaling all rotating through the press box.

Frankly, I didn't miss Tootoo that much last night...
…but scratching Smithson or Spaling could hurt the PK, dontcha think?
And I think a line of Dumont-Spaling-HornQ could generate some offense, making the checking line Smithson, Ward and “whomever.” Fact is, that my HSD line couldn’t generate offense cause of Trotz’s obsession with screwing with Dumont and (newly acquired) HornQ.
I’m pleased to say that things look OK right now in my eyes and no need to rock the boat further by bringing up Lundmark IMO. I’m not saying I like Trotz :) but they have made some good adjustments (more ice time for Kostitsyn and Wilson) that have made the ship more sailable! Is that a word, or did I invent that?

I think "seaworthy" might work better
