Olympic Rules
Now that we've all had a good taste of Olympic hockey rules, I wanted to ask what everyone thinks of it. There's automatic icing, no trapezoids and pizza slices, 10 minute sudden-death OT, and a different point structure for the standings. Do you think more fans will start to consider these rule changes for the NHL? I'm not saying that I personally think they should be changed, I'm just wondering what the consensus is. Do you like automatic icing or not? (I don't) Do you like not having a trapezoid? (I do) Would you want to see any of these changes in the NHL?

i do like the auto icing. while i prefer the current rule i do think its time to change for the injury issue. i love no trapezoids. i dont yet on the point system. i like it in this instance but would like to see what that meant to nhl standings based on that system.
SB Nation’s Buffalo Sabres blog re-calculated the NHL standings using the Olympic rules, so take a look over there!
More fun than a stick to the face!

thanks
much as i would have guessed, not alot of change. i think i would be for the rule change. i would rather see a 60 minute winner rewarded than a overtime loser, which is kind of what happens now.
One thing that’s misleading about simply recasting the NHL standings is that the intended effect is to influence the way teams play at the end of games, i.e. encouraging teams to go for the win rather than play it safe and go for OT.

I like 'em
I’m a big fan of the Olympic rules. I’ve wanted to see a 3-2-1-0 point system for a couple of years now and after watching Sully go down hard the other night chasing an iced puck, I’d like to see automatic icing. As for no trapezoids – that just makes things exciting.
There are some other differences I missed in the post above.....
There can also be repeat shooters in the shootout.(I like this) Also, apparently, when a penalty shot is called anyone on the team can take the shot.(don’t like). What about these?
