Playoffs? We need to go just over .500.

It's time for another update.

In Mirtle's playoff push post, and he predicts that it will take 94 points, one less than the last update. Since we are currently at 66 points, only five more than 2 ½ weeks ago, that means we need 28 points in 26 games. So if Mirtle is right that it will need 94 points to get in, we need to go 14-12 to get in. As it stands currently, no matter what, 36 more points will officially clinch a playoff spot for us, according to Sports Club Stats

too close for comfort for me. I wanted it to be like having to go 9-16 or something….

The problem with needing 14 wins is looking at our schedule. We CANNOT play the way we have the last two weeks and hope to get in.

Just quickly, checking out the sched:
Sharks x2

Rangers
Devils
Pens
Kings x2
Canucks
Wings x3
Coyotes x2
Flyers

Those are the games where I’m not confident we’re better than the other team. Thats a lot of games. There are not many gimmes left, just the Blues, Oil, and BJs once. Buckle your seatbelt.

agreed

We control our own destiny’s though. Our problem is beating the sorry teams…..and the Shootout/OT losses will kill us because we play :Detroit,Yotes,LA so many times. We cant give them points. Because it looks like it will be a tight race to the end. It sucks losing out on making the playoffs by one point….then you go back thinking about how a goal couldve helped you out………..
