Denis Grebeshkov injured, Sulzer recalled
John Glennon brings grim news this afternoon:
The Preds have lost defenseman Denis Grebeshkov for one to two weeks with a lower-body injury. He apparently suffered the injury fairly early in Sunday's loss to Vancouver, but played through it for a while. Nashville has recalled Alexander Sulzer.
Barry Trotz is also jumbling the lines again (except for Ward-Legwand-Smithson), so tomorrow's game in Atlanta will bear special attention. And in other news, J.P. Dumont is down on the 4th line now. Considering that David Legwand hasn't scored a goal in two months (January 2nd vs. Anaheim), one would think that a change there might be warranted.
Here's your PR statement from the team:
Nashville Predators President of Hockey Operations/General Manager David Poile announced today that the club has recalled defenseman Alexander Sulzer from Milwaukee (AHL) under emergency conditions.
Sulzer, 25 (5/30/84), posted three points (1g-2a) in three games during his most recent stint with the Admirals from March 3-8, giving him 22 points (5g-17a) in 22 games at the American Hockey League level. He last played for Nashville prior to representing Germany for the second consecutive Olympics in Vancouver last month, and has a pair of assists in 18 games for the Predators in 2009-10.

Hmm
Hey guys, long time lurker, just created an account. Don’t like the sound of this at all. At least the D is the deepest part of the team.
Thanks for joining!
Glad to have you aboard… but can you play defense? If so, send a note to Coach Trotz.
More fun than a stick to the face!
On the Forecheck is SB Nation's blog covering the Nashville Predators.
leggy
while i agree leggy is a huge disappointment offensively, his line does a very good job most nights as a shut down line so i wouldnt change it. w/ smitty and a lesser degree ward you could call it the 3rd line but they will get the minutes anyway if they matchup to the opponents top line.
.
but can you play defense?
I can’t, but I’ll be at the game tomorrow and will try to volunteer my services. (I actually live in Macon, GA, these days) I’d probably be good for one good check, as long as the guy in ugly-light-blue isn’t moving.
On topic, the lines in Glennon’s article/post don’t look too bad. Wilson has been one of the better forwards since he’s been back up. His pass to Tootoo crossing the blue line last game was really something. So I’m fine with him moving up. Though I really don’t know why Trotz didn’t put Erat back up with Arnott and Sullivan when Erat came back form the injury. Sure Hornqvist was doing well there, but he was also doing fine down with Goc and Dumont.
Keeping Ward-Legwand-Smithson together is a smart thing to do, though.
Horny on the Top line?
I hate seeing our leading goal scorer only playing 14 minutes a game in a 4 to 2 loss. Also, I hope Trotz rewards that Tootoo/Wilson/Boyd line for being our best line on Sunday.
