Predators Game Thread #66 : Nashville @ Atlanta

Nashville Predators at Winnipeg Jets, Mar 9, 2010 7:00 PM EST

Thrashers2_medium

Date: March 9, 2010 Location: Atlanta, GA
Time: 6:00 PM
Arena: Philips Arena
Local TV: FS-TN (HD) SBN Affiliate: Bird Watchers Anonymous
Radio: 104.5 FM Season Series
1-0-0

The Predators need to get back on track against a Thrashers team that is fighting for its playoff life as well. Besides reading your Game Day Preview, we'll want to keep an eye on the out-of-town scoreboard - Calgary plays at Detroit (can't they both lose?), and Vancouver plays Colorado in a battle for Northwest Division supremacy. Let's hope for both of those games to get decided during regulation time, OK?

For your pre-game preparation, listen in as the NHL Network's Mike Johnson joined the Thom Abraham Show this afternoon to talk about the hot-button issue of the day, head shots:

Nashville Predators Testing Game Day Live Chat

You are also invited to try out a new feature over at NashvillePredators.com, a live in-game chat that's tied to your Facebook account. So be careful about calling Chris Thorburn a knuckle-dragging troglodyte... just in case you've got some aunt you're connected to who is a knuckle-dragging troglodyte, and might take offense.

Lets make this a good game thread! I should be around for most of it this time, and we need a win big time.

As Wysh would say, tell a friend, and bring the funny!

This frustrates me

I’m doing a job shadow program at the Tennessean Sports section, and guess how much Preds is going to be on 1C tomorrow?

A picture and 6 inches. They decide that before the game for the Preds, and their reasoning? No one who follows the Preds buys newspapers.

What’s a job shadow program?

I don’t even want to get into this. I can barely bring myself to use the online version of the wrap.

They don't buy that rag...

Because of their lack of actual coverage of the hockey team in the first place!!! Furthermore, we don’t buy that paper because it seems the Preds get more coverage from their Business writers in some expose fashion with an agenda they go out of their way to try to perpetuate…

I was about to say something very similar: if we GOT good coverage, I’d buy!

Front page is now split into 3, Preds, Titans, and SEC Basketball

If I had my druthers, when football was in the off-season and hockey was in the stretch drive, I’d be covering the Preds with a half-page on front. Oh well…

Not bad, not bad. There’s no excuse for tonight’s game not being the lead story tomorrow. The game’s in prime time, in HD, there’s a Barry Trotz special, we need the win, etc.

Coach Trotz’s daughter goes to school with me here too.

And now Preds may be the centerpiece tomorrow morning because there aren’t enough SEC basketball pictures. Things change a lot here.

I was surprised to see that OtF get on average 1000 more views a day during the Preds season than the Titans season

but MCM gets a lot more comments. I would say 3-4 times the amount.

Yeah, Willie has done color...

With Tom several times over the past couple years. He’s done a lot of work to prepare to do it and I think actually adds to the telecast in the same way he does on the radio show where he is able to quickly come up with analogies from other sports that the community is more familiar with to give the listener a good idea of what is actually going on.

Obviously, having never played the game himself, Willie is not going to be breaking down the X’s and O’s, but he does have a good grasp of what’s going on and how it all connects together…

I'm expecting...

Hamhuis – Suter
Bouillon – Klein
Franson – Sulzer

Cody and Alex have played together in Milwaukee for most of the last two seasons and we’re gonna be relying heavily on our top-4 to eat up the minutes. Expect to see Peterson try to match-up the rookies as much as possible away from ATL’s top lines. It’s difficult on the road, but not impossible…
