Preds sign two draft picks to tryout contracts
According to Admirals Short Shifts, the Nashville Predators have inked two of their draft picks to Amateur Tryout contracts (ATO's) for the purpose of them joining Milwaukee for the AHL playoffs.
No, Blake Geoffrion isn't one of them, though.
Charles-Oliver Roussel is a highly touted defenseman coming out of the QMJHL, and Michael Latta has been a rugged center for the Guelph Storm of the OHL (33 goals, 40 assists in 58 games, and led the team with 157 penalty minutes).
The signing of Latta makes me wonder a bit - will Taylor Beck also get similar treatment? He had a huge season (39 goals, 54 assists in 61 games) and led all OHL right wingers in scoring.

Latta
Impressed the heck out of me at the rookie camp last summer. He had a couple sick dangles..one on Pickard and one on the other tall Swedish (or Finnish) goaltender we had in camp. He’s got great hands…looks like a tough kid with plenty of attitude too.

Think that other goalie is Anders Lindback.
Olivier-Roussel is a well regarded offensive defenseman. Be interesting to see if he can somehow crack the roster in the next decade, what with Weber, Suter, Klein, Franson, Blum, Ellis, Sulzer, Laakso all ahead of him.
Like Dirk, though, I’m more interested to see if Taylor Beck gets a call.

Yes Lindback was the guy...
He reminded me so much of Pekka it was eerie…same sprawl in front of the goal almost exact same motions when blocking a shot.

Geoffrion
Hmm…surprised Geoffrion wasn’t one of them. I wonder if his Hobey Baker win is muddling the issue of contract $$ or terms. Interesting.
I'm guessing...
Blake’s working out some contract issues. He could sign tomorrow and still make the Ads game…Madison to Chicago isn’t a long way to go.
No storm couds on the horizon as far as I can see...
Can’t imagine that there’ll be any protracted delays in Geoffrion’s signing. I too expect it’ll be announced tomorrow.
The Ads look to be getting a nice infusion of talent for the playoffs! :)
