Predators scoreboard watch: Western rankings up for grabs
The Preds aren't back in action until tomorrow, but there are plenty of games on tonight's schedule that can impact the Western Conference playoff positions:
Chicago @ Dallas: The Blackhawks still have a shot at the top spot in the West, which would pretty much rule out a matchup with the Preds in the first round.
San Jose @ Calgary: For the Sharks, this will serve as a practice for "eliminating an opponent who is on the ropes". The Flames have only a glimmer of hope to capture the #8 spot, but at least they have a winning record (6-4) in their last 10.
Colorado @ Vancouver: The Avs, however, are really stumbling down the stretch, going 3-6-1 lately. Vancouver has nothing to play for here, so expect Alex Burrows to work on his flopping.
Los Angeles @ Anaheim: The Kings currently sit in 7th, 3 points back of Nashville with two games in hand, and one point behind Detroit with one game in hand over the Red Wings. Goooooooo Ducks!
Feel free to follow the action and discuss in the comments below...

Great article. If only the Preds had the bankroll they could lock these three up for life. And yes I am including Hammer. Just imagine having Weber, Suter, and Hamhuis signed 4 or 5 years. Regardless as to the other 3, the Preds would contend for best D group every year. Who, knows? Hopefully a long playoff run can put enough money in the coffers to extend a reasonable offer to Hammer. Of course the main focus would be on Weber after next year and then Suter the following year. In that case maybe Poile and the front office want to bank the money that it would take to resign Hamuis, and instead use it in the future to lock up Suter and Weber.

Scott Burnside is predicting we'll win a series!
Jason (Chicago)
Scott give me your elite 8 in the NHL who will be left after round 1 of the playoffs? Will you go chalk or is there teams in the bottom 4 in each conference that you expect to see in round 2 of the playoffs.Scott Burnside (4:09 PM)
Jason; A little hard to tell given the uncertainty of the match-ups (see, I am hedging already) but the east is pretty much a gimme; Washington, Pittsburgh, Buffalo and New Jersey. The west is a bit more problematic but here goes based on today’s match-ups; San Jose, Chicago, Detroit, Nashville.
