Predators scoreboard watch: On, Columbus!
There are two games on tonight's NHL schedule which impact the Western Conference playoff scenario, and one features the two biggest rivals of the Nashville Predators:
Detroit @ Columbus: The Red Wings are tied with Nashville at 98 points, but have an extra game to play. Can the Blue Jackets rise up and play spoiler against Detroit? With a 3-4-3 record in their last 10 games, I'm not very hopeful that Columbus can come through.
Chicago @ Colorado: The Blackhawks have a chance to catch San Jose for the top seed in the West, something I don't think most Preds fans want to see. If Chicago went #1, San Jose would drop to #2, setting up a possible 1st-round date with the Predators. So goooooooo Avs!
Feel free to follow the action and sound off in the comments below, and for more on these games, check out Pete Weber's segment on the Thom Abraham Show this afternoon:

Oh for the love of all that is holy...
…please let us not draw San Jose in the first round. Not so much that I’m afraid of them, but because I just want to play a different damned team in the first round of the playoffs.

Detroit @ Columbus: All I can say is that this time Columbus can not blow this one like last time. They had a good lead, but dropped the ball in the 3rd. Now which team does that sound like.
Chicago @ Colorado: With the fact that Colorado have nothing to lose or gain now, It’s unsure if they feel confident in playing Chicago or San Jose. They might just give up this game so they can get a read on the team and prepare for the Playoffs with Chicago.
It should also be a note that both Chicago and Detroit have one more game, in which they face off each other. Plus the L.A. Kings have back-to-back games this weekend, and San Jose’s last game will be Saturday. The Kings have a great chance to lock up 5th place because they dominate the tie-breaker with more wins than Detroit.
If Nashville wants 5th place back, Detroit and L.A. have to lose their last 2 games, or one game and the Preds win Saturday. If by chance only one of the two teams loses one game with the Preds win, or lose both game, the Preds might get 6th place. Since Detroit had to earn points from OT loses, which could be their downfall.
If we get stuck with 7th place, then we have to hope Chicago lose their last two to face them, or San Jose to win their last 2. I have a feeling that all eyes will be the CHI-DET game on NBC before this is all over.

Bad news
Detroit @ Columbus: Game stays scoreless into a shootout. Detroit wins in 4 rounds of the shootout to take 5th place for now.
Chicago @ Colorado: Chicago leads 2-0 after 1st period.

It’s just amazing to me how these “spoilers” have rolled over and played dead down the stretch.
More fun than a stick to the face!

With the fact that Detroit and Chicago both won, who would you go for Sunday in the CHI-DET match-up? That’s a tough one to answer until the game comes up.
Plus, we would have to win Saturday and L.A. would have to lose both games to avoid a possible playoff match-up with San Jose.

Man, can’t catch a single break right now.

Looking like we'll be playing the Blackhawks...
I don’t mind playing a team with goalie problems. As long as it’s not San Jose!
Christie kicks it high and short...Gonna be fielded by Lorenzo Neal at the 25...He dishes it back to Wycheck...He throws it across the field to Dyson...

Not if Chicago wins out and we stay in 7th, we get….San Jose.
