Monday's Notes: Ellis leads Spitfires to title
- In last night's playoff action, the Chicago Blackhawks finished off a sweep of the San Jose Sharks to advance into the Stanley Cup Finals.
- 'I took a breath and it felt like my whole mouth was missing'. Duncan Keith is just the latest hockey player to need dental work after getting hit by a puck. [Tribune]
- Dustin Byfuglien scored his third game winner in four games against San Jose. Perhaps its a bit early to anoint him the 'best power forward in the NHL', but there hasn't been a more effective player in the Conference Finals. [NHL]
- The window of opportunity is now for Chicago, who will owe 1 million over the salary cap (57m) to just fourteen players next year. [CBC]
- Justin Bourne asks some gut check questions about the Sharks. [Puck Daddy]
- The Czech Republic upset Russia yesterday to win the gold medal at Worlds. [IIHF]
- Senators fans - still bitter about losing dynamic forward Dany Heatley. [Silver Seven]
- Predators defensive prospect (drafted 11th overall last year) Ryan Ellis registered 3 points in a Memorial Cup winning effort for the Windsor Spitfires, his OHL team.
Will we see him in Milwaukee next year?Due to age, Ellis is only eligible for the OHL or NHL. [Memorial Cup] - Jeremy acknowledges that the Predators made the right pick in Ellis, and wonders if he might make the opening night lineup in 2010-11. [Section 303]
- Rachel begins to wrap up each player's performance this season, starting with Wade Belak and Dan Hamhuis. [What the Puck]

Yes, NHL-CHL agreement
Yeah, unless Ellis makes the Preds out of camp (not likely as anymore than No. 7 defenseman getting in 9 games), he will be re-assigned to Windsor for next season due to his age.
CHL players who are under the age of 20 and who have not completed 4 years of junior hockey yet must be assigned back to their CHL team unless they make an NHL roster.
