One thing to keep in mind if you're interested in scheduling a road trip? Southwest Airlines is running a $39 sale for travel between the dates of September 8 - November 17. You have to book by Thursday, June 24, so make up your mind quickly! The $39 fare applies to travel less than 450 miles, so destinations like Chicago, Columbus and St. Louis would qualify.

The following comes from the Nashville Predators:

The National Hockey League released the 2010-11 regular-season schedule today and the Nashville Predators will open their 13th NHL season at home for the fifth time in the last seven seasons by hosting the Anaheim Ducks on Saturday, Oct. 9. The Predators will play five of their first six games, and 12 of their final 15 contests at Bridgestone Arena. For the third consecutive campaign, the Predators will play 15 Saturday home games.

Following its start at home, Nashville hits the road for 11-of-14 from Oct. 23-Nov. 22 which includes a five and a four-game road trip. The Predators longest stint away from home will come from Jan. 16-26 when they play their final six games before the NHL All-Star break out west. 2011 All-Star Weekend will be Jan. 29-30 at the RBC Center in Raleigh, N.C.

The Predators will again play all other 29 teams in the NHL at least once in 2010-11. Nashville will play its Central Division rivals six times - three at home and three away - while taking on the Western Conference's other 10 teams twice at home and twice on the road.

This season, the Preds three "wild card" opponents from the Eastern Conference, who they will play both home and away contests against, are Southeastern Division foes Atlanta, Florida and Carolina. Nashville's six other home games against Eastern teams are highlighted by two of the League's biggest stars coming to town in the first two weeks of the season. In game No. 4 of the season on Oct. 16, two-time Hart and Art Ross Trophy winner Alexander Ovechkin leads the defending President's Trophy-winning Washington Capitals to town, and five days later (Oct. 21), Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin and the 2009 Stanley Cup Champion Pittsburgh Penguins invade the Music City. The Predators will also receive visits from the New York Rangers (Nov. 27), the New York Islanders (Dec. 13), Ottawa Senators (Dec. 23) and Boston Bruins (March 17).

The 2010-11 schedule is also highlighted by both the 2010 Stanley Cup Champion Chicago Blackhawks, and the rival Detroit Red Wings paying three visits to Nashville. The Hawks come to town on Nov. 13, Jan. 15 and Feb. 24, while the Wings visit Feb. 5, March 19 and April 2. The Predators will close out the 2010-11 campaign on the road for the fourth time in five seasons, playing at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis on April 9.

The Predators schedule includes 13 sets of back-to-back games. The club's longest homestand is five games between March 10-19, while its longest stretch on the road comes Jan. 16-26, when it heads out on a six-game trip.

Face-off for all Predators home contests will be at 7:00 p.m. (Central time), with the two exceptions being a 5 p.m. start on Sunday, Jan. 2 (vs. Columbus) and a pair of 2:00 p.m. face-offs on Sunday, Feb. 27 (vs. Columbus) and Saturday, April 2 (vs. Detroit).

The Predators will continue to offer a variety of single game promotions and themed nights during the 2010-11 season. All Tuesday night games will continue to be sponsored by Daily's convenience stores and offer discounted tickets and concessions throughout the season.  The two Monday home games will be "Military Mondays," all Thursday night games will be "College Nights," and six weekend dates will be McDonald's "Family Four Pack" games.  The Predators will continue the "Fellowship Night" series, offering five fellowship nights throughout the season. In addition, the first 100 tickets purchased day-of-game at the Bridgestone Arena box office will be priced at $10.00 each.

Preds seems to have a lot of one game road trips and lots of Saturday games. This schedule sucks if you want to travel to see the team, but it’s a great schedule as far as getting people into the Bridge.

And the best part is...

The team is on the road (for once) when the NCAA National Championship Football game is taking place.

And 9 in November

The good news is, the bulk of our home games are in February, March and April.

11 out of last 13 games are home? I mean that is great, I think, but a little lopsided.

Really like the two Sunday home games. When is the last time we had 2 in a season?

Not a big fan of playing Detroit 4 times after Feb. 1. They always seem to struggle out of the gate. Would have been nice to get more dates with them before New Year’s.

All the Vancouver games happen Jan 26 and later. Makes me think the March 29 game could be an brawl as those games are always chippy.

Interesting that both of those Sunday games are against Columbus.
