Hamhuis and cheap shots at Nashville

I can see why Hamhuis is running his mouth.  He's played in a hockey town for 10 years where hardly anything is ever reported.  Can't imagine how jaded he'll be in the coming months having never been put into a spotlight of Canadian stardom.  I honestly think he believed he could make a passing joke at our expense and no one would hear about it.  May have been true here in Nashville...not going to work out up there.  Careful, Danny.  You may be making yourself a target out there: February 17th, you come back to Nashville.

hammerLESS

with as BADLY as he played in Nashville, especially in the playoffs, paired with Kleine,on the PK etc., he should keep his mouth SHUT. He is NOT an elite dman and was the LEAST physical dman we had. Spent more time getting knocked on his butt and tossed off pucks like a rag doll and making many stupid turnovers in our zone. As well, LOLLYGAGGED and loafed/took shifts off. Cant wait for FEB. 17th.

Do you have a link for what Hamhuis said?

This one includes video. Basically he came onstage at the Vancouver fan event where there were a couple thousand people, and the host made a crack that you wouldn’t get that many fans in Nashville during the middle of July. Then Hammer said it looked more like a Nashville home game in November…

That’s really classless. I’m happy we didn’t end up going after him.

This probably sounds more hateful than I mean it

But it seems like Vancouver fans are all over how classy Hammer was to sign with them for a “hometown discount.” Sure it wasn’t the highest offer, but I have to think that he got very lucky that the market for defenseman got bid up the way it did this year.

It seems like your desire for more money would decrease if you made as much as a pro athlete, yet so many of them still simply go to the highest bidder. Wouldn’t it be worth a few hundred thousand to play close to home when you’re making millions?

Sure, if you’re in Vancouver it’s nice to think Hamhuis signed for less money as a favor to your city, but it must also be a big perk for the player himself to play at home again.

Pens fans should be ecstatic that you didnt end up with this the MOST OVERATED and MOST OVERPAID player in the NHL.

OK, we get by now that you didn’t like Hamhuis, you don’t need to repeat yourself…

haha...

Really, that’s all he’s commented on since joining. Get off the high horse, and just relax. Save that for when the Canuckleheads come to town.

Don’t get the wrong idea, you’re completely welcome here, but repeating the same message several times doesn’t help further the conversation.

I’m sure you have a lot more to say about the Preds than merely that Hamhuis was overrated.

You are correct and i will drop the comments. I would like to hear some opinions on the following. What do we need more, a proven winger ( nolan, Guerin for example) or a back up net minder?

I’d encourage you to write up your thoughts on the question as a FanPost (use the “New FanPost” link at the upper right). If you feel strongly one way or the other, make your case, and if you want to get really fancy, you can create a poll on the subject as well.

Bad Word

Well I am really suprised about what he said like that. What could you possibly have to gain by trashing Nash on your way out the door? I think he was just trying to endear himself to the fans for when it is found out that he is not worth that contract. lol
Don’t worry you guys got a pair of great young defenseman who are on their way to elite. Well to be fair Shea is already there. I couldn’t count on one hand defenseman I would rather have on my team, and if Sutter is your number 2 then life is good as far as defensemen go.

Grow up Preds Fans!!!

Grow up Preds Fans. I absolutely have no problems with what Hammer said in Vancouver. Most Canadians hate the southern tier of the NHL. He gave the fans up there some red meat so to speed up his acceptance by them. Big deal!! It is not a BIG secret about the attendance issues in October and November for the predators home games. Quit acting like the JILTED ex girlfriend move on and boo him mercilessly when the Canucks visit here next season.
