Is anyone else concerned...
Is anyone else concerned that our team now no longer has many (any?) players that have competed at a Stanley Cup level? Wasn't that the whole original point of signing Arnott? I think that often gets overlooked. Hasn't that been pretty much confirmed as a ingredient for winning: signing players that have a habit of winning? I may be blowing smoke but I will say Vince Young has a pretty remarkable starting win record since signing with the Titans...and we all know how good of a quarterback he actually is. Just sayin'.

winning experience
weber and suter, the leaders of this team know what it takes to win and have a taste for it now. At the same time Arnott didn’t show up in the playoffs until the last game, so there isn’t a lot missing.
I don't think it's that big of deal...
Do teams have to have a championship winner to win? Well, that just seems redundant doesn’t it? Who did the Saints have last year that’s been in a Super Bowl before that? No one that comes to my mind.
Who did the ’hawks have? Hossa? Sure he helped, but could they have done it without him? Definitely. And he only had made it to the Cup finals twice, never won.
I don’t think it’s necessary and if they float like Arnott does, well, I can’t imagine that helping much at all.
and Ladd
but I’m totally with you guys here… just “having” the guy with experience doesn’t really mean anything. That player has to actually bring something significant to the table too; otherwise it’s just a bunch of intangibles that may or may not make a difference.
doubt it
I don’t know anything about Hockey, but that sounds like a tired narrative used instead of actual analysis.

I feel like that was one of the major premises of moneyball. Not saying that baseball and hockey are synonymous but I do feel like winning is contagious.

Experience
is a big plus, but it doesnt do us any good when that experience plays like arnott did most of last season. freeing his slary to sign lombardi( who has made it to the finals) is well worth any experience loss that was from years ago.
ARNOTT
Keeping AR—NOTT around was not going to get the Preds a cup or even a shot at the cup. Oh sure he’ll play like no tomorrow this season back in New Jersey—-but for the Preds—-he milked his injuries, when he was playing—-all one had to do is watch him/his attitude the first few minutes of the game—if he was in his usual Bad attitude mode==the rest of the team slumped all night and one knew right away the game would be lost.. On rare occasions did he have fire/good attitude, and by golly we won those games!! GLAD HE’S GONE
