Preds chairman Tom Cigarran puts the focus on the Stanley Cup

As a followup to the announcement regarding the local ownership group buying up the "Boots" Del Biaggio shares in the team, Preds chairman Tom Cigarran joined the Thom Abraham Show this afternoon to discuss the news and the state of the team going forward. You can listen to that segment at the following link:

Tom Cigarran on Thom Abraham Show 20100722

He answers questions about Brett Wilson potentially joining the ownership group, establishing stronger links between the Preds and the NFL's Tennessee Titans, emphasizes over and over again that the locals plan on keeping the Predators in Nashville "forever", and that their goal is win the Stanley Cup - not just make the playoffs again, or win a series, but win the whole damn thing. You can't help but be impressed about his new role as the public face of the ownership group.

Hockey fans in Nashville owe David Freeman a tremendous debt for his hard work in keeping the team here during the dark days of 2007, but in terms of setting a public agenda and speaking on behalf of the organization, Tom Cigarran is off to a great start.

While we're talking about this, I also wanted to point you to perhaps the finest post I've seen yet regarding the developments going on this week:

A Wonderful Wednesday " Pull My (Fang)Finger
AJ perfectly captures the mood of longtime Predators fans, who can look at a franchise that is perhaps stronger than it has ever been before, both on the ice and off.

Preds Blogs

Hey Dirk, I’ve noticed a lot of good Preds blogs out there, but I don’t think they are getting the exposure they really deserve. I think, since you are probably the most read out of any of them, it’d be really cool if you did a post completely dedicated to as many Preds blogs as you can find to plug and hopefully get them more exposure for the fantastic job they do.

I concur

Dgutzman and Predsoda are very underrated.

One thing I did last fall was a series of “Get To Know A Preds Blogger…” posts featuring various members of the community. I could do that again during this summer.

My approach has been to try and feature their content here on a daily basis as it pops up – I think that provides better visibility than a one-off post that might only get read for a few days.

And remember, if you find something that I’ve overlooked, you can write a FanShot to share that link with the rest of the gang here.

Why Can't I Get The Link To Work

I get a blank page if I get anything at all when I click on the link for the Cigarran segment on the Thom Abraham Show. Is it my browser or the link?

by Predaceous on Jul 23, 2010 8:16 AM EDT reply actions

Nevermind. It's Apparently My Browser

Is there any way you can make sure that these links are compatible with Firefox? I absolutely HATE having to resort to IE on any level.

by Predaceous on Jul 23, 2010 8:17 AM EDT up reply actions

Something needs to be associated to play .mp3. Either use the Windows Media Player plugin (at the bottom of this page: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/browse/type:7) or download VLC from videolan.org and have it take over mp3 playback.

by DonBorvio on Jul 23, 2010 8:52 AM EDT up reply actions

remove the ) after type:7 in the link.

by DonBorvio on Jul 23, 2010 8:52 AM EDT up reply actions

The link just goes to an MP3 file, which is independent of the browser. As DonBorvio notes below, you just to set up something to play it by default.
