Matt Moulson signs with NY Islanders for one year, $2.45 million
Another comparable player to Patric Hornqvist signs for one year at $2.45 million with New York. We talked about the implications of the Mason Raymond deal yesterday, and this provides another benchmark. I'm guessing that if the Preds want 2 or 3 years in Hornqvist's next contract, it will probably cost $2.5 million or more per season.

Moulson was the one guy I picked out that is truly comparable to Hornqvist. Signing him should be done fairly quickly now. This is about the rate that most of us expected for Hornqvist.
Absolutely
If they do a two year deal does Hornqvist remain an RFA? Do you go longer and maybe the new CBA raises the minimum age to become a UFA? Do you make him prove he’s more than a one year wonder? I think he is, but who knows.
Now that Moulson is set, the price should be easy. It’s the terms that need to be hashed out.
