Nashville Predators training camp opens Friday

"Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking..."

After two rollicking victories by the prospects down in Florida, the Nashville Predators' veterans report to hockey training camp tomorrow for testing and off-ice work, and hit the ice Saturday morning in the first open practice at Centennial Sportsplex.

Listen to this interview with GM David Poile on the Thom Abraham Show from this afternoon, and follow after the jump for all the details including your training camp roster & schedule...

Readers of On the Forecheck can take advantage of a special offer to save anywhere from $6-24 on Nashville Predators tickets.

On most days, there will be a morning and afternoon practice, as the players are split into two squads (rosters should be available Saturday). Of special interest is a 30-minute scrimmage, currently scheduled for 12:30 on Wednesday, September 22nd. All the practices at Centennial are open to the public, and it's a great way to spend your lunch hour and connect with some fellow hockey fans, so make sure to catch a practice or two.

The first home preseason game is Thursday, September 23rd against Carolina, which helps kick off Preds Fest, the multi-day celebration of hockey that features parties, a beer garden, and FREE TICKETS to that 9/23 game. The other two home preseason games are Saturday, September 25th against Washington (no, I wouldn't expect Alex Ovechkin to play, but you never know) and Monday, September 27th against Atlanta. On game days, there is usually just one practice for the guys who aren't playing, which runs from 12:00-1:30. As soon as the Preds post a link to their complete practice schedule I'll update this with a link.

All that leads up to the regular season opener on Saturday, October 9 vs. Anaheim. Just 23 days, folks!
