The (Unofficial) On The Forecheck NHL 11 Team Play (PS3)
New Blog where I'll post some tips as they become available, and will eventually used to post weekly thoughts and figure out when the best time for everyone to play will be: Fine it here. It's not much yet, but it'll be a decent meeting point as we start moving along

EDITED SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 5th:
Hello there; First a little background. NHL 11, Much like NHL 10, NHL 11 will include an online team mode. That is to say, you pick a position and play it all game while other human players play their respective positions. Last year, me and Michaeltastic played a bit on the xbox 360, but I think we'll be playing on the Playstation this year.
Long story short, I was wondering if there were any people on this site that had a PS3 and were interested in making a team with us. I haven't confirmed this with Michaeltastic, but I'm sure he'll be up for it. He's pretty good at scoring and I'm pretty good at defense so overall we're pretty flexible, and it could be a fun experience. If anyone's interested, reply here, and we'll try to get something together when the game comes out next Tuesday.
The Unofficial Roster After the Jump
Here's the Team so far. If you want in, leave a comment in stating what position you think you're best at. If you're not really that sure, guess and we'll figure out. Fortunately I'm a pretty decent in front of the net center and faceoff winner (though I'm much better at defense) , and Michaeltastic is an excellent passing and shooting forward (but can switch to defense if necessary), so we should be able to move around enough to make a decent team.
TEAM SO FAR:
Michaeltastic: Forward (Winger, right?) (Right Handed; Short Stature)
Greatpaperclip: Right Defense (Left Handed, Short Stature)
MinnesotaRoyal: Winger (Unsure; Unsure)
Other notes: I'm not sure if we need a goalie, but that is by far the toughest position to play. Me and Michaeltastic have very little experience here, but I think I can do it if it's necessary. If possible, I'd like to just have a team of five and let the computer handle goaltending.
There will be an adjustment period where me and Michaeltastic have to figure out what is different. Michaeltastic was an amazing up the side to center passer, and if we can get away with that our scoring should be ok. I will have to figure out the new physics and figure out how much biting into the offensive zone will hurt us. What this means is there might be a few weeks where me and Michaeltastic just play around before we start playing team games. If you want to play, you can always join us by friending us (more on that later) and that way we could learn to mesh.
If there are any more questions, I'll answer them in the comments

possibly...
Do i have to make it for every game? I’d love to, but with my schedule i’ll probably not be able to commit to making games super-regularly.
What’s the scheduling usually like, etc?

Play me!
If anyone out there wants to challenge me to a match or something “djnodis” is my psn username.
I’m going to be getting it on Friday when I get paid.
Potentially
I’ll be picking it up on Tuesday, but haven’t played many hockey games in the past to be even adequate at it.
"Strikeouts are boring! Besides that, they're fascist. Throw some ground balls - it's more democratic."
I can't wait!
i pre-ordered (but for 360).
i wish labor day weekend extended till tuesday so i wouldn’t have to wait till i get out of classes to play it.

If you're interested, then let me know in the comments
I’ll add you to the post, request your information (through e-mail or whatever), and then send you an invite sometime in the next week when the game comes out and I’m able to get internet access. If we can get 5 people great, but the more the merrier. Don’t worry about how good you are, Michaeltastic is a pretty good teacher and you can also get better by playing the “Be A Pro” mode

I'll play
And will definitely be playing the Be a Pro mode (am addicted to the Road to the Show on MLB 10, so I can imagine it’ll be a similar feeling), so maybe that’ll help. I’ll learn.

yeah, these modes where you play as one player are addicting to me
I have a pitcher on RTTS, a college star, a madden pro, and soon, another NHL pro. There are a lot of videos with tips for like, spinning, wrap arounds, and puck handling, but you won’t have a tough time picking it up if you’ve played any hockey game or understand hockey at all

I played some Be a Pro
Which helped considerably. I was playing on rookie and played the first preseason game against the Ducks, winning 10-0 and scoring five times as Lombardi. So, I think I’m at least getting the hang of it, though Pro and the next level will start testing that.

I'd join in but I suck lol
I had to play a few games before I even scored a goal. I’m too used to NHL 08, which is what I had before this. The poke check is just insane and I have to deke a lot or hold X to keep control in the offensive zone. Also, passing is weird – it seems to never go where I want it to even pointing in that direction. It tends to go to an opposing player. :/
But finally took a game against our whipping boys, CBJ. And ironically, the guy who I could NOT score with in a whole season of NHL 08…I get my first NHL 11 goal with him: Jordin Tootoo. A quick turnover in their zone and a pass and he shoots it in, amazing. Shortly after was a power play goal with some crazy rebound action, bounced a couple times and JP hits it off the CBJ player’s crotch and into the goal.
But with the game tied 2-2 in the third, both CBJ goals coming off breakaways with that behind the leg shot…about 1:30 remaining…Weber gets the puck and takes the slapshot from the blue line and burns Mason through the 5-hole! Now, that was awesome. Preds win 3-2. :)
it'll take some getting used to
Better to do it now than later! We’re going through an adjustment as well thanks to the new physics

is there an xbox360 group out there?
I play on 360… anyone on there want to get a team together?
I didn't make one, but I can add a note for you on this fanpost
The more teams the better

I'd be better as a forward and usually play a winger
I’ll try the goalie spot some just in case we need that.

The club is created.
The name is The Forecheckers. Either find the club and request to join or send me a friend request and I’ll invite you

i think i can play the role of scotty hartnell – decent goal production, good two way game, 1 foot in the penalty box, 1 foot in the doghouse.
my psn username is tallboy2724.
either message Michaeltastic or search for the club
I’d invite you, but my friend has had my playstation for like 6 months and I’m trying to get it back

Please note:
We can have as many people as we want in the club and only need 2 people to play a game against another club, so anybody and everybody is welcome. It is nice, though, to have a position staked out for when there is a full game

an interesting article of the ratings break down for every team
this is why the first thing i do every year is fix the ratings for the preds to what they should be.
"It's gonna be fun on the bun."
Yeah, we're last in the division?
I mean I guess it could happen, but…
Well, does Columbus’s rating at least go down when the Preds play them?
by Great Paperclip on Sep 9, 2010 9:32 PM EDT up reply actions
I just love that the ratings for all the teams are within 5 points of each other
That’s not something you’d ever see in a baseball or football game.

We haven't disappeared...
However, Michaeltastic and I probably won’t be too much on until after next weekend. Though, Michaeltastic may be on during the week…either way, we should get some games going a little before the season starts
