Nashville Predators announce 20-man roster for preseason opener
We now know who's going to suit up for Nashville tomorrow night vs. Carolina in the preseason opener:
Defense: Cody Franson, Jonathon Blum, Teemu Laakso, Ryan Ellis, Alexander Sulzer, and Ryan Parent.
Centers: Marcel Goc, Nick Spaling, Cal O'Relly.
Wingers: Blake Geoffrion, Andreas Thuresson, Jordin Tootoo, Jonas Andersson, Patric Hornqvist, Kelsey Wilson, Taylor Beck, Sergei Kostitsyn, J.P. Dumont.
Goalies: Pekka Rinne, Mark Dekanich.
So who are you most looking forward to? Personally, I'm going to keep a close eye on Blum, Ellis, Andersson, Kostitsyn and Beck...
And of course you can't overlook the Bridgestone Arena debut for Blake Geoffrion!

I’m hoping to see many of those on your list Ellis, Andersson, Kostitsyn and Beck on Saturday. I’d love to see Klasen on the ice this weekend but I guess he’s either day to day or still out with the concussion. I think its cool that Pickard/Lindback is a possible tandem for Saturday with Dex and Peks playing tomorrow. Thursday night MBA class has to be the worst decision I’ve made in months.
Ryan Parent, Ryan Ellis, Sergei Kostitsyn and Taylor Beck
Are the ones I’m most looking forward to seeing in action.
Looks like the Canes are bringing their varsity team

Since our team is almost entirely made up of prospects, it’ll be interesting to see how the kids hold up against real NHLers.
"Get to the Choppa!"
Nothing like a little trial by fire to separate the men from the boys. I will be soooo psyched if our youngsters whip up on Carolina’s vets.

Looking forward to seeing what Ellis and Franson can do on the points of the PP and what Laasko and Parent can do on the PK.
Want to see if Andersson has a chance and if JP is going to be left behind by all the younger legs or if he is going to find an extra gear.
I also am looking forward to seeing McBain, Sutter, and Staal for Carolina.
Slightly off-topic question:
Does anyone know if the Refs for these preseason games are actual NHL Refs?
Last I heard the NHLOA still did not have an agreement with the NHL. I even heard that the NHL season might start with scab AHL Refs. Can’t find any reliable sources on the topic.

I’ll see what I can find on the subject and include it in tomorrow morning’s links. If I recall correctly, the NHL guys are working the preseason while they continue to negotiate.
On the Forecheck is SB Nation's blog covering the Nashville Predators. Catch me on Twitter at @Forechecker.
Yes, NHL officials working preseason
I haven’t seen anything official, but I’m currently watching the replay of Sens-Leafs right now and got in about four ganes from last night too. Every game has had NHL officials on the ice.
From what I understand, if there is no strike or lockout imposed…under US Labor law the two sides can continue to operate under the terms of the expired agreement until a new one is reached.
Question remains, if there is no agreement by the start of the regular season…will the refs strike?
