I'm not concerned about the offense, I just want those defense pairings to work smoothly at the start of the season. Last October was pretty messy.

Even by the Predators’ modest standards, the team’s offense in three preseason games at Bridgestone Arena has been a buzzkiller. In particular, that 6-on-4 end-of-game fiasco Saturday night capped an 0-for-6 power play performance. It sure looked like last year; different guys with different numbers standing around the same old way. Trotz says the offense is a “work in progress.” Isn’t it always?

Yes, only two of the three games were at home but they did seem so much longer.

I’m not worried… yet.

I’d like to see a “real” lineup together for a few games before I worry about how the offense will go. The big thing I’ll be watching early on is how the D pairs work together.

I wouldn’t sweat it too much. If it still looks like that next Sunday against the Capitals (who have a pretty poor PK), then you might should get concerned. They haven’t iced the full complement of players yet, and tonight’s the first that will we get a look at Weber/Suter/Hornqvist/Lombardi/Wilson/Sullivan/Erat/Dumont all on the same squad.
