Nashville Predators assign Blake Geoffrion to Milwaukee
As the Preds continue to trim their roster leading up to the regular season, heralded hometown hero Blake Geoffrion has been assigned to Milwaukee. As a first-year pro he doesn't require waivers, unlike Andreas Thuresson and Teemu Laakso. From the Preds:
Nashville Predators President of Hockey Operations/General Manager David Poile announced today that the club has assigned forward Blake Geoffrion to Milwaukee (AHL).
The Brentwood native appeared in two of Nashville's first three preseason games, his first NHL games with his hometown team, and will start his rookie professional career in the same state where he won the 2010 Hobey Baker Award and played four seasons with the University of Wisconsin. He became the first Tennessee native to be selected in the NHL Entry Draft when the Predators took him in the second round, 56th overall, in 2006.
Blake has looked good in preseason action, but naturally needs some time at the AHL level before making his NHL debut.

The right move
He’ll be able to play on scoring lines with the Ads as opposed to grind lines here.

Agreed
It would have been a disservice to Blake’s development to keep him here playing with guys like Belak and Smithson on his wings.
Let him go to Milwaukee, play on a scoring line, and develop his complete game than pigeon hole him as a checking line center in his rookie year…
