And if you do think about it, his argument before (about being specialists) wasn’t bad. Just some can’t handle the truth. You either have to have a lot of talent (very lucky) or work very hard to get from high school→minors→NHL. A lot of people come to see the best, that’s why we pay that much, and they get paid that much. If not, they’d go to another team or another league, or even another job.

Then again, I took a similar pay cut when I moved here for better benefits and job security. I had a lot of problems with money too after that. But, I think reducing your lifestyle at his income level is more “buy one less Jaguar” more than “what do I have to eat this month” or “will I have to file bankruptcy?”.
