Every once in a while a blogger stumbles upon something that's truly surprising, and brings it to the attention of a wider audience. That kind of treasure kicks off our afternoon hockey notes today...

A good word of caution here that applies in my Player Previews, which feature team shooting and save percentages while each player is on the ice. Don’t know whether this would be possible, but I was just thinking that it would be a nice addition to these lists of links if you could thumbs-up a story that you particularly enjoyed.

If they're here, consider them thumbs-upped

I generally sift through hundreds of articles each day, so only a small minority make it into these posts. I’ll try and make it a little more clear if something really stands out, though, that’s a good idea (like the “read of the day” above).

ekholm

if he’s not gonna play, send him to milwaukee or sweden. hes young, the ice time has to be better duing games instead of practice.

It's a full moon. That's the only explanation.

because that was the most bizarre game I’ve seen in ages. Vokey started out—well, crappy. But he was amazing in OT and in the shootout.

But for the love of a duck, could Tampa Bay please stop turning the puck over?

But look at all that offense you’ve got! Now to find a Dman or two to balance things out.

Defense keeps you in games........offense wins them!

Which is the exact opposite problem of the Preds.

I keep being reminded that it took 2-3 months for Boucher’s defensive system to start clicking last season. I keep answering, “two to three months?! Who has two to three months?”

You should feel lucky, we’ve been waiting for 5 years for an offensive system to start clicking, LOL! :/
