Report: Nashville Predators place Kyle Wilson on waivers
Renaud Lavoie of RDS reports that the Nashville Predators have placed forward Kyle Wilson on waivers today, presumably in anticipation of his assignment to Milwaukee, but perhaps what is most notable about this development is who is not going on waivers today, but would require them for a trip to the Admirals.
As detailed here a week ago, that list includes names like Zack Stortini among the forwards, and Teemu Laakso & Jack Hillen on the blueline, lending further credence to the theory that Laakso & Hillen will be the 3rd defense pair to open the season.
Bouillon & Fisher back practicing with the team
Josh Cooper reports at the Tennessean that Francis Bouillon skated with the team in practice today (along with Mike Fisher), which could give the Predators the confidence to start the year with just six healthy defensemen on the roster, allowing them to cut Ryan Ellis and Mattias Ekholm as well. With Ekholm, of course, the question is whether or not he'd head back to Sweden rather than accept an assignment to Milwaukee, but the bottom line is that it's probably better for both of those guys to play 20+ minutes a night at the AHL level rather than 10 or so in Nashville.
