Friday's notes: After topping Toronto, Preds look forward to hapless Blue Jackets
This morning's hockey notes are loaded with storylines coming out of last night's victory of Toronto, and a look ahead to Saturday's guest at Bridgestone Arena, the Columbus Blue Jackets, whose struggles have now given birth to trade rumors aplenty...

I wish there was a rec option next to the links. Good to read the Rinne, Kostitsyn and Suter’s responses to Smith’s missed ENG.
I wonder if Ryan said, “hey at least you didn’t kick it into your own net.”

Contrary to popular belief Hapless doesn't mean "to be without happiness"
Although that phrase certainly applies to the Jackets as well.

Serious comment:
Is anyone else totally over Jack Hillen? The way he plays defense by just sort of leaning on things… just super effective.

I’m no more over him than I am over Blum, Klein or Bouillon. Our defense looks really good on some nights, but on most nights the only reason we come off looking competent at all is because Rinne is being a hero.
well if Suter and Weber weren’t so lazy and would condition themselves to play an entire game, then we wouldn’t have to have those other guys out there

I’m a bit confused Dirk. Are you actually advocating what that douchebag fan did to Lupul last night? As a Preds fan I’m embarrassed by it. That’s not who we are, and when one fan acts like a complete moron it reflects on us all. I want to memorize that idiots face so that I can tell him off if I ever see him at the arena.
What a jerk.
I didn’t think it was that big a deal. It would be OK for him to bang the glass with his fist, but not kick it?

Um, yeah. just like it’s okay to knock on a door but not kick or bang on it. That’s a distinction I’m teaching my kids. It goes for fans, too. There’s a line between good fun and bad manners.

I think there’s a big difference. When you’re banging on the glass the glass generally doesn’t move, and if it does, not to that degree. I’m glad Lupul was wearing a helmet. The effect of that guy kicking the glass was close to directly kicking Lupul in the head. I doubt Lupul would have bothered to turn around if people were just pounding on the glass.
D
And another point, people bang on the glass usually to distract or get the attention of a player, but this was a fan trying to make contact with a player. It’s akin to throwing something at a player when you think about it. I’m sure a lawyer could argue that. You can’t excuse what he did because there was a layer of glass between them. And glass like condoms may not be 100% effective.

HAHAHA Puck Daddy has an article about honey badgers:
That in mind, more than a few have recently been given the moniker “Honey Badger”, many by their teammates.
Your team probably has a honey badger.
Down in Tennessee, Nashville Predators fans have taken to calling rookie sensation Craig Smith(notes) the Honey Badger. This one makes a lot of sense: last year, Smith attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison, whose team is called the Badgers.
The NHL is filled with honey badgers; does your team have one? Also, he doesn’t give a crap. Empty-net? Craig Smith don’t care. That puck’s going into the upper deck.

If Pekka wins us the cup by standing on his head… just once… the entire 7 year 49m contract is worth it.
