$7.8M arena subsidy to Predators is up for debate - The Tennessean
It's always a touchy issue when the Tennessean writes about business issues relative to the Preds, but this is a well-researched, balanced article which raises a very legitimate question. Should the City of Nashville continue to fund the Predators arena subsidy out of the general fund, at the expense of other worthy projects? Now that the Music City Center is under construction, the former source of arena funds (tourism taxes) is no longer available. With all the talk about how busy Bridgestone Arena is, and how the ownership is ready to step up and start spending more on player payroll, how can they at the same time continue to ask for a large handout from city taxpayers who are already stretched thin?
