In last Thursday's game against the Predators, Toronto Maple Leafs forward Matthew Lombardi suffered an upper-body injury during the second period, causing him to leave the game. James Mirtle reports at the Globe & Mail that this will cost him a few weeks out of the lineup, and potentially more:
The word currently circulating around the league, however, is Lombardi suffered a dislocated shoulder that will likely require surgery - either now or at the end of the season, if he attempts to play through the injury.
Given the nature of such an injury, a full recovery could take several months.
On the line here is a 2013 draft pick - if Lombardi plays 60 or more games between this season and next, Toronto sends a 4th-rounder to Nashville. If he plays less than that, the Preds send a 4th-rounder to the Maple Leafs.
