Wednesday afternoon notes: Injury bug devastating NHL teams
This afternoon's hockey notes bring fresh news on what is becoming a tiring issue in the NHL - injuries, particularly concussions. We have two star players in Carolina who are now out with concussions, and other key forwards out of the lineup with a variety of bumps & bruises. Meanwhile, the league decides not to hand out a suspension to Winnipeg Jets defenseman Zack Bogosian for a hit which broke the nose of Minnesota's Pierre-Marc Bounchard. Was that the right call?

After getting blasted into the boards by Winnipeg's Zach Bogosian, Pierre-Marc Bouchard may well play tonight. There's no supplemental discipline being handed down to Bogosian for the hit, which in my opinion was the right call. Bouchard's spin at the last second put him in a dangerous position.

That ice is nuts.
Never seen anything like that in Minnesota on even the big lakes. It looks like it would be dangerously thin to be that clear, the OP says there were at least 6" in any spot.
Saw that video earlier today and it was just mesmerizing and relaxing to watch. If I ever learned to skate, I don’t know if I could overcome the fear of the ice breaking, no matter how beautiful the scenery.
2"+ is usually good enough, try a pond/smaller lake. And if it’s below 0F, ice freezes pretty fast to safe levels.

Canes just can't get a break. :/
I believe it was the goon man himself, Andy Sutton, who gave Skinner the concussion. What a worthless slug Sutton is.
I am amazed at how little impact most of the new coaches have made so far. It used to be that in the first game with a new boss behind the bench, that team would play over their heads and usually win at least that first game. This year they’ve laid eggs in those first games, the Blues being the exception.
Defense keeps you in games........offense wins them!

Andy Sutton pisses me off.
He’s completely worthless. I don’t know if I’ve EVER heard anything positive about him. Did he just get suspended, too?
Hands go uuppp..... AND THEY STAY THERE!

8 games for leaving his feet to try and kill Ponikarvosky in the same game with the Canes. Surprised the Ducks traded him this summer to the Oilers, he fits right in with Anaheim.

I've been advocating troughs for years...
Cross streams, whatever’s faster. In Mexico you just piss in the corner of the wall and it flows down the drain, works for me.
Oh and the Sedins are officially...
